Dibber operated 50 kindergartens in Norway. 225 adults took an active part in the development of 1,020 children.
Counting 7,000 children and 2,400 adults, Dibber became one of the biggest employers of early education in Norway with kindergartens all over Norway.
After achieving
a cand. mag. in phycology, a bachelor in pedagogy and a degree in management Hans Jacob met Randi, who was now a child pedagogue.
5 men, including Hans Jacob Sundby, started summer camp for lesser privileged children
The Dibber educational concept got assembled into 5 subjects; The heart programme, Creativity, Language, Play with mathematics and Nature.
The Dibber team counted 20,000 children and 6,000 adults, with kindergartens in Norway, Sweden, Riga and Dubai.
Dibber reached 40,000 children and employed 9000 adults, with Early Learning Centers in Norway, Sweden, Finland, Germany, Latvia, UAE, Hong Kong and South Africa.
They got the opportunity to buy their first kindergarten with 15 adults and 50 children.
The Dibber Story
The Beginning
Back in 1983. Hans Jacob Sundby, our owner, realized his desire to work for the development of children. He embraced the value of stable relationships for children’s development and decided to make a difference in their lives.
In 1986, the other future co-founder of Dibber, Randi Lauvland, had an eye-opening experience where she witnessed how kids grow and contribute simply by being shown that they have value.

With an interest in children’s education, Hans and Randi started selling pedagogical toys in 2001. They further expanded to decorating children’s rooms in workout centres around Norway. They put in a lot of effort in all the work they did.

First Step to Achieve Their Dream
In 2003, they bought their first kindergarten. With their experience as parents and through work, they focused on good content for their kindergarten. They started with 50 students and 15 adults and a holistic approach to early childhood education. Here children could become the best version of themselves through playful learning, interaction and mastery. The Dibber way of putting compassion, empathy and collaboration into learning programs took form in this first kindergarten.
Onwards and Upwards

In 2009, Dibber operated 50 kindergartens in Norway. 225 adults took an active part in making a difference in the lives over 1,020 new world citizens.
In 2013, the Dibber educational concept got assembled into 5 subjects - The Heart Programme, Creativity, Language, Play with Mathematics, and Nature.

By 2015, more kindergartens joined Dibber. With over 7,000 children and 2,400 adults, Dibber became one of the biggest employers of early education in Norway with kindergartens all over Norway.
The Best of Both Worlds
2017
By 2017, – the Dibber team grew to 20,000 children and 6,000 adults. Our kindergartens were now present in Norway, Sweden, Riga and Dubai. One of the keys success factors was knowing that a good kindergarten is a local one.
With this in mind, we opened the doors of our first kindergarten in Hong Kong in 2020!
